It is all about cleanliness - washing your hands after handling - simply educating them - it has been proven that they can pass it on to humans but if you wash your hands etc etc you are perfectly safe x

the person reckons her kids are never near them and it must of been cause the hoggie had been running around on the floor. yeah most animals carry it but cleanliness is key.

I agree cleanliness is the key , but just because they have a hedgehog
Surely they can't assume it came from them , the child
Could of picked it up any where or in food Smile x

I remember when i was doing my research before getting millie that
There was a big thing in america about hogs being blamed for a rise in salmonella
Cases..cant see how it can be proved it came from the hogs.could be from anywhere.

They always have to blame something, especally if it is little and cannot defend itself!!

I don't know much about salmonella but I agree with our friends, basic cleanliness should always be observed after handling any animal. I should practice what I preach but I have to admit there are times when I don't do it and I have never caught anything nasty.

Hugs
