Depends on the reasons for not registering and what you know about the breeder

They never register apparently.its the breeder tayer used from scotland she has a female choc snowflke hoglet for sale i asked to see the certs to compare with theo and she told me she has never registerd but is now working with the registery to get all her hogs done. Might just stick with breeders on here to be honest Very Happy

haimish is a stunner, and she did everything in her power to get haimish from scotland to wales...!

i think she used to work in a pet shop as she knows so much about all animals, she even hand reared a pigeon!!!

haimish was well over 150grams at 6 weeks lovely shape and size...eats everything...not fussy at all.

Didn't she fetch some in from Europe? If she did, she needs to be careful as if she cannot prove they were quarantined, she would have broken the law - it is illegal to import hedgehogs without them being quarantined for six months

she has never said she has...or implied...
i think people are saying she has because of her unusual colours...

she didnt want me to use that courier because of what he said about him importing from germany...

As things are in the hoggie world at the moment I would be making sure everything was dotted and crossed - everybody is falling out with everybody and spite always come to the front - just make sure x

Not registering can be for many reasons - to be fair, I register mine in the States for my own reasons and there are more people who are doing the same - if you know the breeder or get a good feel for the breeder then go with your gut instinct, just because they are not registered doesn't mean they will be unhealthy but you do need to have some background on them especially if your plans are to breed - a good breeder will provide you with the information you require so that you can check lineage etc.

Gem I would stick with what you no , as you are just starting out , its ok having unusual hoggies but if the hogs or the parents have been imported they can all legally be destroyed from what I am aware .. Helen is more up on the laws regarding hedgehogs ,I personally like to no who I am buying off I have had a few hogs when I first started that have had issues ... I will venture out sooner or later but to prevent inbreeding I think personally and I can only speak for myself I like to see lineage .

I was just going to say that ... a good breeder can provide the lineage of both parents ... have you got lineage on both parents even if they don't register I also now register with the IHA again for my own reasons .. but I am fully aware of who I can and cant pair in my herd and to keep my lines pure this is how I like it .x
